The Kooks - Junk Of The Heart (Happy)
It's funny how you can have a song on your iTunes for months and it comes on shuffle but you don't really take notice to it. Then, one day, you're out somewhere, and you hear it and recognize it, and suddenly it's better than it ever sounded. That's what happened to me with this song. It is very catchy, but the process of hearing it at a bar, finding the chorus so familiar, taking note of some of the lyrics, googling them, and realizing I already have the song, made it come to life for me.
I have only heard a few tracks by The Kooks, but I really do enjoy their musical style. There's something kind of oldschool Britpop about their music - and that's a funny comparison because I don't know much about oldschool Britpop. I find it really hard to put their style into words...I guess I find their music to be laid back and effortlessly catchy; something to snap your fingers to. And the music sounds kind of fuzzy and...vintage? They remind me of a lighter version of the Arctic Monkeys. Anyway, check this one out - it's a happy one.
