Jimmy Eat World - 23
I just said goodbye to my favourite late high school / university show. I've mentioned it earlier, and have posted a few amazing songs I first heard on One Tree Hill, and I will certainly post more in the future. Despite the fact that this show has been going downhill for the past few seasons, I stuck with it because it will always have a special place in my heart. There were scenes in this show with the most perfect dialogues and songs that just tugged at my heart. Back when the show was at its peak, hardly any One Tree Hill episodes would go by where I didn't shed a tear (they were not all sad tears). I am quite happy with the series finale. They covered everything I wanted, except bringing back Lucas and Peyton.
This track is from Season 2, when Brooke and Lucas' messy history had already been established and everyone was rooting for them. The particular scene where this song came on was right at the end of an episode when Lucas had finally realized he needed to tell Brooke how he felt...only to find her in the arms of Felix! Oh, the drama.
Anyway, this is an emotional and relatable song by a talented band. Beautiful lyrics. It's not easy to make a song that is 7.5 minutes and good to the last drop. But Jimmy Eat World totally pulled it off. The musical intro is stellar; first minute and a half is the best part of the song. Enjoy!
